ELEVATOR RESCUES DUE TO POWER OUTAGES IN L.A. SUBURB

Firefighters in the Los Angeles suburb of Glendale, California, performed at least 25 elevator rescues on July 24 after an electrical substation failed, affecting thousands of utility customers, Los Angeles Daily News reports. Passengers were rescued from high rises and office buildings, including City Hall, throughout Glendale. After the initial outage at roughly 11 a.m., another occurred at approximately 4:10 p.m., this time affecting 11,000 customers as temperatures continued to soar.
