INDIAN RAILWAY UPGRADES INCLUDE LIFTS, ESCALATORS

During a September 6 meeting with 11 members of parliament in Guwahati, India, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) General Manager Sanjive Roy shared details of how the railway is making the systems across six northeast Indian states more user-friendly, The Sentinel reports. In addition to NFR achieving 92% train punctuality — the highest of all zonal railways — and bringing WiFi capability to all stations, NFR installed eight lifts and five escalators at three stations over the past financial year. In addition, NFR is planning 35 lifts and 16 escalators at other stations.
